Pet overpopulation
  • Woman walking dog in the rain We are all too familiar with the clich "it's raining cats & dogs", but do we really know what it means? The following startling statistics are provided by the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals).
Approximately 10,000 people are born each day in the United States; 70,000 puppies and kittens are born as well! It is up to groups like Concerned Citizens for Animals to help curb the pet birth rate because there will never be enough homes for all the animals!

Millions of cats, dogs, kittens, and puppies are euthanized each year in the United States because there are simply not enough homes for all of them.

The National Council on Pet Population Study and Policy has found that an average of 64% of all animals taken into shelters are destroyed!

Unwanted animals suffer from disease, parasites, starvation, injury, abuse, and finally, death.   Cats and dogs are likely to die early when left on the streets.  If the animal is brought to a local shelter, there is a good chance that he or she will be euthanized for lack of good homes.   Please help put an end to such senseless suffering. Fight pet overpopulation! Groups like CCA exist to help educate people about spaying and neutering. Please call us today! "Neuter and Spay -- It's the Humane Way!"
